when we walked by our old house?
I could feel the panic on your skin
as you looked up at the window
still shattered from when you fell
how could you forget?
the fire was spreading from the basement to the first floor
our father was screaming, and mother was weeping
they were trapped in their bedroom
and there was nothing that we could do
we couldn't move
so we went back with matches in our hands
gasoline and matches in our hands
years later, and here we are again
with gasoline and matches in our hands
what else were we to do?
we set fire to this house and in our hearts we moved on.

in a room full of confident people
just look at the ground
it’s easier not to feel anything
with your head in your hands
you’d rather be anywhere other than
where ever you are in your skin
take what you can, and run for the door
but with nothing out there left to take
your hands are broken and bare
this emptiness has no escape
keep moving on, keep running away
there are infinite amounts of us
drifting aimlessly apart
and it makes you sick
how little we are
you feel alone in a crowded room
felt alone from the start
and it makes you cringe
how petty we are.
